Geyikbayırı Tırmanış Bölgesi

A valley 25 km from central Antalya with more than 1,000 climbing routes on limestone walls. Turkey's largest sport-climbing area, filling with climbers from Europe through the winter.

Geyikbayırı is a limestone climbing area in a valley north of Konyaaltı, its main crag 1.5 kilometres long. With the side buttresses it holds over 1,000 routes at every grade. The rock quality — tufa formations, overhanging roofs, slabs with small crimps — is what puts the area on the international climbing map.

The real season here is winter: from October to April, climbers escaping Europe's cold and wet months fill the valley. In summer the heat pushes climbing to early mornings and shaded sectors. Camp-and-guesthouse operations in the valley, such as Climbers Garden, Josito and Rido, provide accommodation and gear rental.

The valley is worth a visit even if you don't climb: the paths below the crags suit walking, the camp cafés are open to day visitors, and the view stretches down to the Antalya plain. It is about 40 minutes from the centre by car; public transport is sparse.
