Lara
Golden sands and big resorts
A holidaymakers' favourite for its fine golden Lara beach and surrounding luxury resorts. This is also where the Düden Waterfall plunges into the sea.
About the region
Lara lies on Antalya's eastern side and differs completely from Konyaaltı thanks to its fine golden sand. The sea shelves gently here, which makes the area well suited to families with children and to anyone who wants to spend long hours in the water.
This is also where Antalya's all-inclusive resorts are concentrated. Large properties with striking themed architecture, aquaparks and private beaches define the holiday style. If you stay in Lara you can have a full holiday without leaving your hotel; the district is about 12–15 km from the centre, so plan transport for city trips.
Lara's most striking natural feature is the Lower Düden Waterfall, where the river drops straight off high cliffs into the Mediterranean — a formation with few equals worldwide. You can watch it from viewing terraces in the park or from the sea on a boat tour departing from Kaleiçi. The clifftop walking paths are among the city's finest routes in the cool of the evening.
