Kumluca

Olympos, Adrasan and quiet coves

A greenhouse-farming coast that has stayed off the mass-tourism map. Olympos, Adrasan bay, Suluada island and the Gelidonya Lighthouse all lie within the same district.

About the region

Kumluca is a stretch of coast between Kemer and Finike that has largely escaped large-hotel development. Its economy rests on greenhouse farming rather than tourism, so the villages keep their own rhythm; accommodation is limited to small guesthouses, bungalow places and family-run hotels. That makes the area appealing for a Mediterranean holiday away from the crowds.

Olympos and Adrasan are the draws. Olympos, with ancient remains running down to the sea through pine forest, is unlike anywhere else in Antalya. Adrasan bay to the south is sheltered between two headlands with a very still sea, and it is the departure point for boats to Suluada.

Kumluca also holds some of the finest stages of the Lycian Way. The section from Adrasan up to the Gelidonya Lighthouse reaches the highest-set lighthouse on Turkey's coast and keeps a sea view throughout. Inland, Rhodiapolis hides in pine forest — very few visitors, surprisingly rich remains.
