Kaş
For diving and a quiet holiday
A peaceful coastal town known for bougainvillea-lined streets, clear coves and dive spots. The starting point for tours to the sunken city of Kekova.
About the region
Kaş sits at Antalya's western edge on a slope where the Taurus mountains drop straight to the sea. Instead of big hotels and crowded beaches there are boutique guesthouses, bougainvillea-lined lanes and small coves — the pace is deliberately slow. At around 190 km from central Antalya, it has largely escaped mass tourism.
Kaş is regarded as one of Türkiye's best diving centres. Visibility often reaches 20–30 metres, and wrecks, caves and rich marine life offer routes for beginners and experienced divers alike. Paddling a sea kayak over the sunken city at Kekova is another classic local experience.
The town itself rewards exploring: the ancient theatre of Antiphellos looks out to sea, and Lycian rock tombs appear between the houses. In the evening the restaurants and small bars around the harbour come alive. Nearby Kaputaş Beach, with its turquoise water, is one of the most photographed coves in the country.
